Decking Cleaner – Professional Cleaning & Revitalization for Exterior Wood (5L)

Exterior wooden surfaces are constantly exposed to the elements. Moisture and UV rays lead to graying, grease buildup, and the growth of slippery green deposits. Our Decking Cleaner is an advanced double-action formula designed to deep clean and revive weathered timber, restoring its original color and vibrancy.

Whether it's a terrace, porch, wooden fence, or garden shed, this cleaner is the first and most vital step toward a flawless exterior.

✨ Why is this Cleaner Essential for Your Wood?

  • 🚀 Deep Cleaning: Effectively breaks down accumulated dirt, grease, and stubborn stains.

  • 🚫 Say Goodbye to Green Stains: Kills algae, lichens, moss, and mould at the root without the need for back-breaking scrubbing.

  • 🎨 Restores Natural Color: Removes the gray "weathered" layer from the wood, revealing its original beauty.

  • 🛠️ Ideal Preparation: Opens the wood's pores, ensuring the next coat of oil or stain absorbs evenly and lasts much longer.

  • ⚡ Fast & Easy to Use: Saves significant time and effort during seasonal garden maintenance.

🏠 Suitable For:

  • All types of exterior wooden decking.

  • Wooden fences and privacy screens.

🛠️ Instructions for Use (For a Perfect Result):

  1. For Bio-contamination (Algae, Moss, Mould): Apply the cleaner directly to the affected areas. Soak the surface well and let the formula work. No mechanical scrubbing is necessary – the cleaner breaks down the stains on its own.

  2. Before Oiling or Staining: Clean the entire area with the product. This will "open up" the wood, removing impurities that prevent the oil from penetrating deeply.

  3. Rinsing: Once the cleaner has dissolved the dirt, rinse thoroughly with clean water (a garden hose or a low-pressure power washer is recommended).

  4. Drying: Allow the wood to dry completely before applying any oil or stain.

💡 Expert Tip for Decking Longevity:

"Never apply new oil over dirty or graying decking. Sealing dirt under oil leads to premature rot and darkening of the wood. Clean wood is healthy wood!"

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is the cleaner suitable for all types of wood?

Yes. Our formula is carefully balanced to be safe yet uncompromising on dirt across all wooden surfaces. You can use it on softwoods (pine, larch) as well as exotic hardwoods like teak, ipe, or mahogany.

Will it remove green stains from my decking?

Yes, this is one of its primary functions. Green stains are usually the result of algae or mould.

  • For light cleaning: Follow the standard washing instructions.

  • For stubborn areas: Soak the spot with the undiluted cleaner and let it sit for up to 3 days. During this time, Decking Cleaner will kill the microorganisms at the root, turning them into a dry powder that can be easily swept or washed away.

Can I use a pressure washer to clean my deck?

Be extremely careful. High-pressure washing often causes more harm than good by tearing the wood fibers, making the surface "fuzzy" and overly porous.

  • Advice: Since our cleaner breaks down dirt chemically, high pressure is not necessary. A standard garden hose or a power washer on its lowest setting is more than enough.

Do I need to sand the deck after washing?

Only if the wood feels rough to the touch. The cleaner itself does not damage the wood, but if the timber was already eroded by the sun or if fibers were raised during cleaning, a light sanding is recommended. This ensures a much more even absorption of your decking oil.

🛡️ Advantages of Cleaning Before Treatment:

  1. Opens the Pores: Allows the oil to penetrate deep into the wood structure.

  2. Removes the "Gray" Layer: Reveals the natural timber color beneath the weathered surface.

  3. Stops Rot: Kills mould spores before they are sealed in with oil or stain.

💡 Expert Preparation Tip:

"If you plan on oiling your deck, allow it to dry for at least 24-48 hours after cleaning. The wood must be bone-dry deep down; otherwise, residual moisture will prevent the oil from soaking in, leading to rapid peeling."
