What is the Kit Suitable For?

The kit can be used on all leather items, with the exception of suede and nubuck. For those, we recommend using our specialized Suede & Nubuck cleaners and protectors.

You can safely use the kit to clean and protect:

• Finished & sealed leathers

• Vachetta leather

• Unfinished natural leathers (Aniline)

• Lambskin, buffalo, and pigskin leather

• Exotic leathers (snake, crocodile, and ostrich)

• Vegetable-tanned leather

Coverage and Shelf Life

The quantity provided is enough to clean and protect an average-sized leather handbag between 6 and 7 times! For optimal year-round protection, we recommend cleaning and treating your bag with the cream once every three months.

Instructions for Use

The kit contains a leather cleaner and a leather protection cream.

• For new items: If your handbag or leather item is brand new or hasn't been used yet, the first step is to apply one coat of the Protection Cream. This will build an invisible barrier on the leather, reducing dirt build-up and the risk of stains from daily use—such as rain, liquid spills, and normal wear and tear.

• For regular maintenance: After the initial application, clean the leather every three months with the Leather Cleaner to remove accumulated dirt, and reapply the Protection Cream.

Q: Can I use the kit to clean a Louis Vuitton bag—both the honey-colored leather (vachetta) and the monogram? A: Yes, you can use both the cleaner and the protection cream on the vachetta leather and the monogram. Since vachetta is a highly absorbent leather, it may darken slightly during cleaning but will return to its original color once dry.

Q: Will the cleaner damage the monogram on my LV bag? A: No. The Leather Cleaner in the kit is formulated with very delicate cleaning agents that are strong enough to remove dirt but gentle enough not to cause any damage.

Q: My bag has suede sides, can I still use this kit? A: We offer specific products for cleaning and protecting suede and nubuck. We recommend using those for the suede sections of the bag (Suede Cleaner and Suede Protector), and this smooth leather kit for the rest of the bag.

Q: Will the protection cream alter the appearance of my bag? A: No. The Protection Cream creates an invisible barrier that alters neither the appearance nor the feel of the leather. If the leather is highly absorbent, it may darken slightly upon application, but it will return to its normal look once dry.

Q: I have an ink (pen) stain on my bag, will the cleaner remove it? A: There is a chance the cleaner might remove the ink, but this depends on how long the stain has been there and whether the bag was protected with the cream before it got stained. If the cleaner fails to remove the stain, you can use our specialized Ink Remover Kit.

Q: What does the protection cream protect against? A: The protection cream helps repel both water- and oil-based stains, along with common issues like dye transfer from clothing (e.g., denim) and liquid spills (juice, tea, coffee). It prevents foreign dyes from absorbing and holds other stains on the surface so they can be easily wiped away.

Q: My bag is made of very natural (absorbent) leather, is it safe to use the protection cream on it? A: Yes, the cream is excellent for this type of leather. It will require two applications, as the first coat will be completely absorbed by the leather. This saturates the leather, preventing the absorption of future stains. Furthermore, the cream lubricates the leather fibers, preventing them from rubbing against each other, which significantly slows down the wear and tear of the leather.
