Leather Re-Colouring Balm: Restore Your Leather’s Vibrant Color

Leather Re-Colouring Balm is a specialized restorer designed to bring back the richness and luster of all types of absorbent leather. Whether your leather is old or new, the balm penetrates deep into the surface, infusing faded areas with fresh pigment and life.

Key Benefits:

  • 🎨 Extensive Palette: Available in 21 shades, carefully developed to cover the entire spectrum from the lightest to the darkest tones.

  • ☀️ Sun & Heat Protection: The ideal solution for areas that have lost their color due to direct sunlight or proximity to radiators.

  • 🐾 Scratch Solution: Perfectly conceals light scratches (such as pet claw marks), provided they are lighter in color than the leather itself.

  • 👔 100% Transfer-Resistant: Once fully absorbed (approx. 10-15 mins) and buffed, the balm will not rub off on clothing or leave stains.

  • ⌛ Long-Lasting Effect: A single application typically lasts for up to 3 years.

⚠️ Mandatory Requirement: The Absorbency Test

This balm only works on leathers that can absorb liquids! Before use, perform the "Water Drop Test":

  • Place a small drop of water on an undamaged area.

  • If the water soaks in and darkens the leather: This balm is the perfect product for you.

  • If the water beads up on the surface: Your leather is protected with a lacquer. You will need Leather Colourant (for small areas) or a Leather Colourant Kit (for full restoration).

🎨 Expert Guide: How to Choose the Perfect Color

Choosing a color for restoration is different from choosing wall paint. Follow these professional tips:

  1. The "Shade Darker" Rule: The balm is a semi-transparent pigment. It cannot make a dark sofa lighter. Always choose a color that matches your leather exactly or is one shade darker.

  2. The Power of Layering: If torn between two colors, choose the lighter one. You can apply multiple layers to gradually build up the intensity until you reach the desired tone.

  3. Mixing Colors: All 21 shades are fully compatible. You can mix them in a separate container to create a custom "bespoke" mahogany or chocolate brown.

  4. Trust the Name, Not the Screen: Screens vary. Trust the color names (e.g., Bordeaux, Tan, Anthracite), as they follow industry standards.

📋 Instructions for Use

Step 1: Preparation & Cleaning Clean the surface thoroughly with Leather Ultra Clean. This not only removes dirt but "opens" the pores, allowing the balm to penetrate deep rather than sitting on top. Let dry completely.

Step 2: Application & Buffing Apply a small amount of balm to a clean cloth or sponge and rub into the leather using circular motions. Ensure it reaches all folds and creases.

  • Important: Wait 10-15 minutes, then buff the surface with a clean, dry cloth to remove any excess. The leather should not feel sticky, and no color should transfer to the cloth.

Step 3: Protect & Seal To "lock in" the new color, apply Leather Protection Cream. This creates a UV filter and a protective barrier against future fading and stains.

Product Specifications:

  • Coverage: 250ml is sufficient to fully restore the color of a large three-seater sofa.

  • Suitability: Aniline, Semi-Aniline, Pull-up, and Antique Finished leathers.

  • Shelf Life: 5 years (store in a cool, dry place).

💡 Expert Tip: Always test on a hidden area first. Apply, wait 10 minutes, and buff. If the color blends seamlessly, you are ready to proceed with the full restoration!
