Adhesion Promoter: Professional High-Bond Primer for Leather

Adhesion Promoter is a specialized polyurethane-based bonding agent that acts as a "bridge" between the leather surface and the new color. Its primary mission is to drastically enhance the surface's bonding properties, creating an exceptionally strong yet flexible foundation for the subsequent dyeing process.

How the Technology Works

The bonding strength of this primer is several times higher than that of the paint itself. When applied, it creates a flexible, adhesive layer. When the paint is then applied over this primed base, it anchors itself far more securely than it ever could directly on the leather. This ensures the coating won't crack or peel, even under intense material movement and flexing.

Protection Against Grease and "Stain Migration"

One of the biggest challenges in restoration is residual oils trapped deep in the leather's pores (especially on steering wheels and armrests).

  • Barrier Function: Adhesion Promoter fills micro-cracks and pores, effectively sealing in residual oils.

  • Prevention: It eliminates the risk of grease "bleeding through" the new coating, which would otherwise cause discoloration or delamination in the future.

When is Adhesion Promoter Mandatory?

Consider this product your "success insurance" for:

  • 🚗 Extreme-Wear Zones: Car seats (especially side bolsters), steering wheels, gear shifts, and armrests.

  • 🛋️ High-Traffic Furniture: Seating areas and headrests on sofas and armchairs.

  • 🧴 Contaminated Leather: Areas that have been in direct contact with skin or hair oils for years.

  • ⚠️ Problematic Surfaces: Any restoration where perfect paint adhesion is in doubt.

Key Benefits:

  • Extreme Flexibility: Follows the leather’s natural movements without cracking.

  • Professional Longevity: Guarantees a lifespan for the new color that rivals the original factory finish.

  • Ease of Use: Applies quickly, creating a perfectly smooth working surface.

💡 Expert Tip from Furniture Clinic: For ultimate durability, add 10% Crosslinker Eco to your Adhesion Promoter. This chemically "hardens" the primer, making it virtually indestructible and providing the absolute best possible foundation for your colorant.

Instructions for Use

Follow these three steps to achieve maximum bond strength and a professional finish:

Step 1: Mixing and Activation

Add 10% Crosslinker X to the amount of Adhesion Promoter you intend to use and shake vigorously for 2 minutes.

  • Why is this vital? Adding the hardener triggers a chemical reaction that increases the primer's adhesion (stickiness) by over 200%.

  • The Science: Under a microscope, the difference is clear—while standard primer creates a simple layer, Crosslinker X creates a dense web of high-strength molecular bonds. This ensures the paint won't detach even under extreme stress.

Step 2: Primary Contact Layer

Apply one thin layer of the mixture onto the leather using a clean sponge. Dry lightly with a hairdryer.

  • The Goal: This layer creates a tacky base that serves as an "anchor" for the following layers.

Step 3: Spraying and Sealing

Apply 3 to 4 thin layers of the primer using an airbrush or spray gun. Dry lightly with a hairdryer between each application.

  • ⏱️ Working Time (Pot Life): Once mixed with Crosslinker X, the solution has a 3-hour window. Use it within this interval for optimal results.

  • Next Step: Begin applying the Leather Colorant immediately after the final layer of primer while the surface is still "active."

💡 Pro Tips for Success:

  • Drying: Always use a hairdryer on a medium heat setting. Never use a high-temperature heat gun, as it can overheat the water-based formula or the leather itself.

  • Precision: Apply in thin, even coats. Four thin layers are always better than one thick, runny layer.

  • Cleanliness: Ensure the leather is perfectly cleaned and degreased with Leather Degreaser before starting Step 1.
