Danish Oil – Universal Protection & Silky Satin Finish for All Wood Types
Danish Oil is one of the most beloved finishes in the woodworking world. Our unique blend of natural oils and high-quality resins is engineered to prime, seal, and finish any wooden surface in a single application.
Unlike varnishes, which create a thick surface film, Danish Oil penetrates deep into the wood structure and dries within the fibers. This provides a tough, durable protective layer that won't peel, flake, or scratch easily, while enhancing the natural grain with an attractive, low-lustre satin sheen.
✨ Why is Danish Oil the "Swiss Army Knife" for Your Home?
-
🛡️ Dual-Action Power: Combines the deep-nourishing properties of natural oils with the long-lasting durability of resins.
-
💧 Total Waterproofing: Creates a superior barrier against moisture and stains, making the wood exceptionally easy to clean and maintain.
-
🍎 Food Contact Safe: Complies with food-safety regulations—ideal for kitchen worktops, butcher blocks, and wooden utensils.
-
🪄 No Artificial Film: Doesn't leave a heavy "plastic" layer; the surface remains natural to the touch and resistant to surface damage.
-
🌦️ Interior & Exterior Use: Equally effective for delicate indoor antiques and outdoor garden furniture exposed to the elements.
🏘️ Suitable for All Wood Types:
Our formula is perfectly safe and effective on oak, teak, mahogany, pine, and all exotic timbers:

🛠️ Instructions for Use (For a Perfect Result):
-
Preparation: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and finely sanded (to 180-220 grit).
-
Application: Apply liberally with a lint-free cloth or brush, following the direction of the wood grain.
-
Absorption: Allow the oil to penetrate for approximately 15–20 minutes.
-
Wipe (Crucial Step): Wipe away all excess oil with a clean cloth. Important: The surface should appear matte with no "wet" spots to ensure proper drying.
-
Coats: For new timber, apply 3 coats, allowing each to dry fully (approx. 4-6 hours) before the next application.
⚠️ CRITICAL SAFETY NOTE:
"Rags used for applying Danish Oil can spontaneously combust if left bunched up. Always wash used cloths in warm soapy water or lay them out flat to dry outdoors before disposal."
💡 Expert Restoration Tip:
"If using Danish Oil on outdoor furniture, we recommend a quick maintenance coat once a year (in spring). This keeps the waterproofing at its peak and prevents the timber from graying under UV exposure."
